MESSAGE FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
To all state employees,
As we face historically difficult financial times, more and more Delawareans are turning to the state’s nonprofit organizations for assistance. And just as the economic downturn has significantly impacted us in state government, it has also created incredible challenges for our nonprofit community.
In recent years, the generosity of state employees has reached unprecedented levels as donations to the State Employees’ Charitable Campaign (SECC) have soared. Through your participation in SECC, families are provided warmth in winter, children are fed when there is no food available, and disadvantaged residents are given hope in otherwise hopeless situations.
This is a critical time for Delaware. While we face historic challenges, we also have a great opportunity to chart a new course for our state toward a brighter future. We can and will overcome our current difficulties, as our best days lie ahead. By working together and focusing on volunteerism in any form, we can make a difference and help nonprofits in our state continue providing the crucial range of services needed to keep so many Delawareans safe and healthy.
With this in mind, we urge you to participate in this year’s SECC events. In its 18th year, this program provides state employees’ a unique opportunity to contribute to a variety of worthwhile charities while boosting workplace morale and developing fun activities for everyone to enjoy. We thank each and every one of you in advance for your contributions to this campaign, which makes such a difference for so many Delawareans.
Sincerely,
| Matthew Denn, SECC Honorary Co-Chair Lieutenant Governor |
Ann Visalli, SECC Co-Chair Director, Office of Management and Budget |
